EasyFlash 3 is a cartridge for the C64 expansion port. In contrast to traditional cartridges, this one can be programmed directly from the C64.
You can easily create various classic computer game cartridges or program collections with it. All what you need to do this is a C64, an EasyFlash, the software available here and an image of the cartridge (*.crt). As these CRT files may be quite large, a large capacity disk drive like the FD-2000 or an sd2iec device may be useful. For smaller drives EasySplit can be used to compress and split large cartridge images.
EasyFlash 3 is not a replacement for a disk drive or hard disk, you can’t write and read files e.g. with SAVE and LOAD.
EasyFlash 3 is the big brother of EasyFlash. It is compatible with EasyFlash 1, so usually all software for EasyFlash should also work on EasyFlash 3.
But it can do more!
It provides 7 EasyFlash slots, each of them is a full-featured EasyFlash 1. With a menu you can choose which one you want to start.
Additionally it can replace the internal KERNAL with one of up to eight KERNALS saved in the cartridge. The external KERNAL has the same compatibility to software as if it had been built-in.
An USB port can be used to update the firmware on the CPLD. It will also allow to write to the cartridge from PC and to transfer other data.
The EasyFlash 3 also supports freezer cartridges. It is compatible with freezer cartridge images that can be run on any of the following freezer cartridges:
Firmware version 1.8.1
Nordic Power / Atomic Power
Super Snapshot 5
Support for Final Cartridge III
EasyFlash 3 is Open Source. The hardware design documents, HDL and software source code are available for everybody.
